Halloween The Game 2026: Full Single Player Campaign Walkthrough & Guide
Halloween: The Game is built around asymmetrical multiplayer, but honestly, I think the single-player campaign is where the developers had the opportunity to do something much more interesting.
“The Night He Came Home” puts you in the shoes of Michael Myers and recreates the basic structure and atmosphere of John Carpenter’s original Halloween story. Instead of throwing you into another multiplayer match, the campaign asks you to slow down, watch your surroundings, stalk people from a distance, and behave like Michael rather than playing him as a generic action-game killer.
That difference matters.
The campaign takes place across six story sections, beginning with Michael’s escape from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and eventually leading back to Haddonfield on Halloween night. Along the way, you’ll collect Dr. Samuel Loomis Logs, complete environmental challenges, perform movie-inspired executions, and work toward the highest possible mission rating.
This guide covers the full Halloween: The Game single-player campaign, including chapter objectives, collectible locations, important execution requirements, and my best advice for earning an S-Rank.
Halloween: The Game Campaign Overview
The single-player mode follows Michael Myers during the events surrounding his return to Haddonfield.
The campaign begins before the familiar Halloween night massacre. Michael must escape Smith’s Grove, steal transportation, return home, acquire his recognizable clothing and mask, and begin stalking the people who will become his targets.
The overall campaign structure is surprisingly focused on patience and environmental awareness.
You are not supposed to sprint around every map killing everything you see. In fact, doing that can actively hurt your final rating. The best approach is usually to remain hidden, watch your victims, build Michael’s stalking power, and wait for the right moment.
Each mission evaluates your performance using several major factors:
- Stalking Efficiency
- Stealth Maintenance
- Cinematic Accuracy
For an S-Rank, simply completing the mission usually isn’t enough. You’ll want to collect available Loomis Logs, complete special environmental kills, avoid unnecessary detection, and use Michael’s abilities efficiently.
Core Gameplay Mechanics You Should Understand
Before starting the campaign, it’s worth understanding how Michael Myers works.
His toolkit is quite different from a traditional action-game character.
Killer Sense and Stalking
Killer Sense is one of your most important abilities. Activating it helps identify nearby targets and useful interactive objects.
When Michael watches an unaware victim, his stalking ability begins building power.
There are three main levels.
Level 1 keeps Michael slow but extremely quiet.
Level 2 improves his movement and awareness.
Level 3 is where things become especially useful. Michael can access powerful cinematic execution opportunities and instant takedown prompts.
My advice is simple: don’t waste Level 3.
If a chapter includes a major contextual kill, save your stalking power until you’re sure you’re near the correct target.
Shape Jump
Shape Jump is probably the coolest movement mechanic in the campaign.
Michael can use darkness and environmental shadows to disappear and reposition around certain areas. When used correctly, it lets you suddenly appear closer to a target without walking directly through their line of sight.
It’s especially useful inside houses.
Corners, dark rooms, and environmental waypoints can become opportunities to reposition Michael for an ambush.
Environmental Sabotage
Michael can also manipulate the environment.
Depending on the chapter, you can:
- Cut telephone lines.
- Destroy electrical equipment.
- Disable lighting.
- Sabotage escape routes.
These actions aren’t just there for atmosphere. They can prevent victims from escaping or contacting the police while also helping you maintain control over a location.
Prelude: Escape From Smith’s Grove Sanitarium
The campaign begins on October 30, 1978.
Smith’s Grove Sanitarium is already falling into chaos. Dr. Samuel Loomis and Nurse Marion Chambers arrive expecting a routine transfer, but something is clearly wrong.
Patients are wandering around the grounds, security is struggling to maintain control, and Michael sees his opportunity.
Main Objectives
Your goals are straightforward:
- Escape the holding block.
- Avoid alerting the main guards.
- Reach the gate control office.
- Steal the station wagon.
The opening section teaches you how important stealth will be throughout the campaign.
Move through the dark sanitarium corridors carefully and use nearby patients as visual distractions. The first orderly can be avoided by moving around medical equipment and staying outside his direct vision.
Near the exit, you’ll have an opportunity to silently neutralize a guard.
Don’t rush.
The courtyard becomes more dangerous because of the security lights. Fortunately, the stormy weather reduces visibility. Stay close to the eastern fence and move through the darker muddy sections.
Prelude Loomis Log Locations
There are two collectibles to find here.
Loomis Log #1: Inside the small security shack near the inner courtyard gate. Look for it resting on a clipboard.
Loomis Log #2: Behind the administrative building on a wooden bench beneath a malfunctioning light.
Once you’ve collected both logs, enter the gate control room and disable the security system.
The station wagon sequence finishes the prelude and sends Michael toward Haddonfield.
Chapter 1: The Long Journey Home and Nichols Hardware Store
Michael is finally back near Haddonfield, but he still needs the equipment that will define his appearance.
This chapter begins around a rural roadside before moving into a small commercial area.
Objectives
- Acquire a mechanic’s jumpsuit.
- Enter Nichols Hardware Store.
- Find Michael’s mask.
- Retrieve a kitchen knife.
Your first target is an isolated mechanic.
Move through the tall grass behind the garage and wait for him to position himself beneath the vehicle. Timing matters here. Once he’s distracted, approach the interaction point and use the environmental opportunity to eliminate him quietly.
Michael automatically obtains the mechanic’s jumpsuit.
Next, head toward Nichols Hardware Store.
The front entrance isn’t your best option. A police cruiser occasionally passes through the area, so I recommend using the rear alley instead.
Climb the stacked pallets near the loading area and enter through the upper window.
Inside, use Killer Sense to identify important displays.
The knife is located in the cutlery section, while the white mask can be found near the front of the store.
The safest strategy is to avoid the owner completely.
Wait for him to move away from the central aisle, collect both items, and leave through the cellar doors.
By the end of the chapter, Michael finally looks like the Shape players recognize.
Chapter 2: Haddonfield Arrival and the First Stalk
It’s now October 31, 1978.
Michael has returned to his childhood neighborhood, and the campaign begins introducing its larger stalking areas.
One of the most important early targets is Laurie Strode.
Position yourself behind the vegetation near the Myers house and watch Laurie from a safe distance when she approaches the property.
Don’t stand too close.
The stalking mechanic works best when Michael remains unnoticed, and getting too aggressive can ruin the sequence.
The Slab Challenge
Chapter 2 also contains one of the stranger special challenges.
A secondary character named Slab can be followed through the neighborhood.
Wait until he moves toward an isolated location.
The important thing is patience.
Eventually, Slab will stop to relieve himself near an environmental object such as a wall or tree. Sneak directly behind him and trigger the contextual execution.
Completing this challenge improves your chapter performance and contributes toward the cinematic rating.
Yes, it’s a bizarre challenge.
But it is exactly the kind of obscure environmental objective you’ll want to complete if you’re chasing an S-Rank.
Afterward, disappear into the shadows before Loomis and Sheriff Brackett begin investigating the area.
Chapter 3: Setting the Trap
Night has arrived.
The atmosphere changes significantly here because Haddonfield is now filled with trick-or-treaters, families, and activity.
Michael’s focus shifts toward the houses connected to Laurie, Annie, and the other babysitters.
Objectives
- Scout the Doyle and Wallace houses.
- Find both hidden Loomis Logs.
- Sabotage the neighborhood.
The map is more open than previous chapters, so this is a good time to explore before advancing major objectives.
Chapter 3 Loomis Logs
Log #1: Inside an open garage on the western side of the map. It is sitting on top of a red toolbox.
Log #2: Hidden behind autumn leaves near a brick retaining wall close to the Orange Grove Estates boundary.
After collecting them, inspect the exterior telephone junction boxes around the houses.
Cutting the telephone lines is essential.
It prevents victims from easily contacting the authorities later in the story.
One mistake I would avoid is attacking random civilians.
The trick-or-treaters are part of the atmosphere, and causing a major panic too early can damage your stealth score.
Stay focused.
Michael isn’t there to create chaos yet.
Chapter 4: The Wallace House Bloodbath
This is one of the most important chapters in the campaign.
It contains several major cinematic kills and requires more preparation than simply attacking the first person you see.
Bob Simms and Lynda van der Klok are your primary targets.
Objectives
- Eliminate Bob.
- Complete Bob’s environmental execution.
- Eliminate Lynda using the telephone.
- Avoid alerting the neighborhood.
Wait outside until Bob and Lynda enter the house.
Eventually, they move upstairs, and the game places Michael near the upstairs bathroom.
Immediately turn off the bathroom light.
This creates a much safer environment for stalking.
Eventually, Bob leaves the bedroom and heads downstairs.
How to Kill Bob Correctly
Don’t attack Lynda first.
Follow Bob downstairs or use Shape Jump to reposition yourself.
The kitchen is the key location.
Approach Bob from behind and initiate the grab. Then move toward the environmental prompt near the kitchen corner.
The contextual execution recreates the classic moment where Bob is pinned to the wall.
For S-Rank attempts, this is one of the most important kills in the chapter.
How to Kill Lynda With the Telephone Cord
After dealing with Bob, return upstairs.
Lynda eventually picks up the telephone to contact Laurie.
This part has an important requirement.
You need to use Killer Sense and build Michael’s stalking meter to Level 3 before approaching her.
If you skip the stalking phase, the specific execution opportunity may not become available.
Once the meter is full, approach Lynda from behind and trigger the contextual kill.
Michael uses the telephone cord while Laurie remains connected on the other end.
It’s one of the campaign’s most recognizable movie-inspired sequences.
Chapter 4 Loomis Logs
There are three collectibles here:
Log #1: On an end table beside the downstairs living room sofa.
Log #2: On the edge of the sink in the downstairs hallway bathroom.
Log #3: On top of a dresser inside the secondary upstairs bedroom.
The third log is particularly important.
Collect it before progressing too far with Lynda’s sequence. It can become missable after the later bedroom events begin.
Chapter 5: The Final Showdown at the Doyle House
The campaign reaches its climax at the Doyle house.
Laurie has discovered what happened to her friends and is now trying to protect Tommy Doyle and Lindsey Wallace.
Unlike many earlier targets, Laurie actively fights back.
Objectives
- Enter the Doyle house.
- Terrorize Laurie.
- Recover from her defensive attacks.
- Reach the balcony finale.
Enter through the rear kitchen window.
Laurie can attack Michael using various household objects, including knitting needles, hangers, and other improvised weapons.
You’ll occasionally be stunned.
When this happens, use the recovery mechanic and continue tracking her.
Eventually, Laurie retreats toward the upstairs bedroom closet.
This sequence works best when you slow down.
Approach the closet deliberately instead of rushing forward. Smash through the doors and force Laurie into the hallway.
She escapes again and heads toward the balcony.
This triggers the campaign’s final cinematic sequence.
As Michael corners Laurie, Dr. Samuel Loomis arrives and fires multiple shots into him.
Michael falls backward through the upstairs window and crashes onto the lawn below.
Then comes the moment every Halloween fan knows.
Loomis looks down.
Michael is gone.
Only his breathing remains.

How to Get an S-Rank in Halloween: The Game
If you’re trying to achieve the best possible rating, speed isn’t necessarily your friend.
In my experience, the campaign clearly rewards players who take their time.
Here are the most important rules:
- Build your stalk meter before major kills. Level 3 executions are extremely valuable.
- Collect every Loomis Log. Missing collectibles can hurt a completion-focused run.
- Complete contextual challenges. This includes special kills such as the Slab challenge and Bob’s wall execution.
- Avoid unnecessary detection. Don’t turn every chapter into a chaotic chase.
- Use darkness. Shape Jump and environmental shadows are there for a reason.
The campaign wants Michael to feel methodical.
If you’re constantly sprinting after targets, you’re probably playing against the intended rhythm.

Final Thoughts
The biggest thing I enjoy about The Night He Came Home is that it doesn’t need Michael Myers to behave like a superhero.
At least, that’s how I think the campaign works best.
The most satisfying moments aren’t necessarily the fastest kills. They’re the moments where you spend thirty seconds standing perfectly still in the darkness, watching someone walk through a room without realizing Michael is there.
That’s Halloween.
The campaign becomes much more enjoyable once you stop treating it like a standard action game.
Take your time. Watch your targets. Use the environment. Build your stalking power. And when the perfect moment finally arrives, strike.
For players chasing 100% completion, the biggest priorities are finding every Dr. Loomis Log, completing contextual executions, maintaining stealth, and maximizing Stalking Efficiency.
And if you’re a fan of the original 1978 film, Chapter 4 and the Doyle house finale are probably the sections you’ll want to replay the most.
They are where Halloween: The Game comes closest to capturing that slow, uncomfortable feeling that made Michael Myers terrifying in the first place.
