And because of the game’s Dynamic Potential system, some players can eventually go well beyond the potential they have when you first sign them.

So, if I were starting a new save today, these are the EA FC 27 wonderkids and hidden gems I would be watching most closely.

The Elite Wonderkids Worth Breaking the Bank For

Let’s start with the obvious problem: some of the best young players in FC 27 are absolutely not cheap.

If you’re managing a club such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, PSG, or Manchester United, money isn’t necessarily the biggest concern. The real question is whether you want to spend an enormous amount now to secure a player who could define your team for the next decade.

Lamine Yamal — FC Barcelona

If you want the ultimate Career Mode signing and have an absurd transfer budget, Lamine Yamal is the name that immediately stands out.

Starting at 90 overall at only 18 years old is already ridiculous. His technical quality, dribbling, passing, pace, and attacking playstyles make him feel like an established superstar rather than a wonderkid.

The problem is the price.

His value is around £400 million, while his release clause reportedly sits at an eye-watering £1 billion. That’s not a normal transfer. It’s the kind of deal that makes you stare at your remaining budget and wonder what you were thinking.

But if money isn’t an issue, Yamal is about as close as you can get to a long-term cheat code.

Joao Neves — PSG

Position: CM / CDM
Age: 21
Starting OVR: 88
Potential OVR: 92

Joao Neves is a completely different type of investment.

He isn’t simply someone you buy because of his potential. At 88 overall, he is already good enough to walk straight into an elite midfield.

His passing, composure, defensive contribution, and ability to control the tempo make him particularly useful for managers who like possession-heavy football. He can sit deeper, recycle possession, and still contribute defensively.

You’ll pay a premium, but unlike some younger prospects, Neves gives you immediate quality as well as long-term growth.

Desire Doue — PSG

Position: CAM / LM / CM
Age: 21
Starting OVR: 80+
Potential OVR: 92

Desire Doue is one of my favorite types of Career Mode player because of his versatility.

You can use him centrally, move him wide, or build an attacking system around his ability to drift between positions. Add his 5-star skill moves and explosive pace, and you’ve got a player who can become extremely difficult for AI defenders to contain.

His 92 potential makes him an especially interesting target if you want an attacking midfielder who can remain important for several seasons.

Pau Cubarsi — FC Barcelona

Position: CB
Age: 19
Starting OVR: 80+
Potential OVR: 91

Young center-backs with elite potential are always worth paying attention to.

Cubarsi has the qualities I want from a modern defender: strong defensive awareness, good passing ability, and the potential to become a reliable ball-playing center-back.

I’d focus his development on his physical attributes early on. Once those weaknesses are improved, he has the potential to become the kind of defender you simply stop thinking about because he handles everything in front of him.

The £10M–£30M Sweet Spot

Not every Career Mode club has hundreds of millions sitting in the bank. In fact, I usually find these saves more interesting.

You need to find players who are affordable before the rest of the football world realizes how good they can become.

Mikey Moore — Tottenham Hotspur

Age: 19
Potential OVR: 88

Mikey Moore is exactly the sort of signing I love for a mid-table club.

A valuation of around £10 million makes him attainable without destroying your transfer budget, while his 88 potential gives you a clear long-term reward.

At 74 overall, you may need to be patient initially. But give him regular football and proper development, and he can become a major attacking player.

Ethan Nwaneri — Arsenal

Age: 19
Potential OVR: 88

Nwaneri might be one of the most useful players on this entire list because he isn’t locked into one position.

He can play RW, CAM, or CM, which is fantastic if you rotate your squad or regularly change formations.

His agility, vision, and long-shot ability make him particularly interesting for attacking systems. Around £12 million is a very reasonable price for a player with this kind of upside.

Julian Duranville — Borussia Dortmund

Age: 20
Starting OVR: 74+
Potential OVR: 90

If pace is your priority, Duranville immediately deserves a scouting report.

He’s available for roughly £10 million, and his potential of 90 is enormous compared with that opening price.

Put him on the wing, give him space to run into, and he can become one of those players who completely changes how your team attacks.

Geovany Quenda — Sporting CP

Position: RM / RW
Potential OVR: 90

Quenda costs more than some of the other bargains here, but £25–30 million for a potential 90-rated player is still a compelling deal.

His versatility makes him even more attractive. You aren’t buying a player who only works in one tactical system. He can move around your attack and give you options when injuries or fixture congestion hit.

The Cheap Wonderkids I’d Target on a Road to Glory Save

This is where FC 27 Career Mode gets really fun.

If you’re starting with a smaller club, spending £400 million on Yamal isn’t exactly realistic. You need players who cost less than £5 million but can eventually become stars.

And honestly, these are often the signings I remember most.

Kennet Eichhorn — Bayer Leverkusen

Age: 17

Potential OVR: 88
Approx. Value: £2.8M

Eichhorn is one of the first names I’d scout for a lower-budget rebuild.

Starting at 68 overall means he isn’t going to instantly carry your midfield, but his 88 potential is exactly what you want from a long-term project.

Use him as a deep midfielder, give him minutes, and invest heavily in his development. For roughly £2.8 million, the upside is enormous.

Mathis Albert — Borussia Dortmund

Francesco Camarda — AC Milan

Give him meaningful minutes, keep his development moving, and he can eventually become a dangerous number nine.

Alan Alcaraz

Alcaraz is a true budget project.

A starting rating of 58 means you probably shouldn’t throw him straight into a promotion battle and expect miracles. But for a club operating on a tiny budget, his potential of 85 makes the gamble interesting.

He’s the type of signing who can start as a squad project and eventually become one of your most valuable players.

Giovano Zinhagel

Position: LW / LM

Zinhagel is another player I’d keep on the shortlist when running a lower-league save.

His 59 overall isn’t going to impress anyone immediately, but 88 potential for less than £1 million is exactly the kind of opportunity that can make a rebuild special.

He’s going to require patience. Don’t expect him to dominate immediately. Develop him properly and his pace and attacking qualities can become extremely useful.

Nathan De Cat — TSG Hoffenheim

Nathan De Cat might be one of the most practical bargains on the list.

At roughly £1.5 million, you’re getting a player who can already contribute defensively while still having a potential of 88.

The ability to use him at both defensive midfield and center-back is particularly valuable for smaller squads.

Don’t Forget the Goalkeeper

I see Career Mode players obsess over wonderkid attackers and then spend five seasons using an aging goalkeeper.

Don’t do that.

A goalkeeper can stay in your starting XI for years, so finding a young player with strong potential early can save you another major transfer later.

Dennis Seimen — VfB Stuttgart

Age: 20
Starting OVR: 70+
Potential OVR: 87

Seimen remains an appealing Career Mode goalkeeper because his potential is high enough to justify developing him long-term.

He may need some time before reaching his best level, but that’s normal for a young goalkeeper.

If you’re building a club rather than chasing one-season success, buying him early can be much smarter than waiting until his value climbs.

Robin Risser — RC Lens

Risser is the opposite approach.

With an 81 overall starting rating, he is already capable of playing at a high level, while his 87 potential still gives him room to improve.

For a club that needs an immediate starting goalkeeper rather than a long-term academy project, he’s an extremely interesting option.

How I’d Actually Develop These Wonderkids

Buying the right players is only half the job. I’ve had plenty of Career Mode prospects with ridiculous potential who somehow failed to develop because I handled their minutes badly.

Here are the three things I’d prioritize.

1. Give Them Real Minutes

A wonderkid sitting on the bench every weekend isn’t going to magically become a superstar.

If a player isn’t ready to start every match, use him regularly as a substitute or send him on loan somewhere he’ll actually play.

Match ratings and consistent appearances matter.

2. Use Development Plans Properly

Don’t just sign a player and forget about him.

Look at what your tactical system actually needs. A winger may benefit from improving weak-foot ability or attacking qualities, while a defensive midfielder might need more emphasis on passing, defensive attributes, or physical development.

The best development plan isn’t necessarily the one that produces the biggest overall increase immediately. It should make the player useful in the role you actually intend to play him.

3. Take Advantage of Dynamic Potential

This is perhaps the most important part of the entire system.

Potential isn’t necessarily a permanent ceiling. Strong performances, regular football, goals, assists, and high match ratings can help a player exceed his original projection.

That’s why a prospect listed with 85 potential shouldn’t automatically be written off as an 85-rated player forever.

If someone like Camarda or Alcaraz has an outstanding season, their long-term development can change dramatically.

If you’re managing a financial powerhouse, someone like Lamine Yamal can give you an outrageous foundation for the next decade. But if you’re taking a League Two club toward the Premier League, I’d honestly have more fun turning a £700,000 prospect into a Champions League-level player.

That’s why I always recommend scouting across different price ranges instead of focusing exclusively on the famous names.

Elite wonderkids win you matches. Cheap wonderkids can build your entire story.

And when one of those £1 million teenagers eventually becomes the captain of your Champions League-winning team ten seasons later, that’s when Career Mode feels at its absolute best.
