Is BOMBANANA Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S? Console Release Date Rumors and Facts
There are some games that look completely ridiculous until you actually watch a group of friends play them. BOMBANANA! is exactly that kind of game.
At first glance, it seems like a silly co-op title about monkeys, bombs, and a van. Give it ten minutes, though, and the concept starts making perfect sense. One player cannot see the bomb, another cannot talk, and the third cannot hear anyone. Suddenly, a task that should be simple becomes a screaming match where everyone is desperately trying to communicate before the timer reaches zero.
That chaos is a huge part of why BOMBANANA! has attracted so much attention.
The game launched on Windows PC via Steam on September 2, 2026, following an enormous demo campaign that reportedly attracted more than six million players and generated over one million wishlists. Now that PC players are getting their hands on the full version, the obvious question from console gamers is getting louder:
Is BOMBANANA! coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S?
I’ve been keeping an eye on the game because this is exactly the type of party game that feels almost designed for consoles. Grab a few controllers, sit on the couch with friends, start yelling at each other, and hope nobody accidentally turns the bomb into a very expensive firework.
The problem is that, right now, there is a big difference between what makes sense and what has actually been announced.
BOMBANANA! Console Release: The Current Situation
Let’s start with the part that matters most.
As of September 2, 2026, BOMBANANA! does not have an official PS5 or Xbox Series X/S release.
The current official release is on Windows PC through Steam. There is no confirmed native PlayStation version available on the PlayStation Store, and there is no confirmed Xbox Series X/S version available through the Xbox digital marketplace.
That means any website, store listing, video thumbnail, or social media post claiming that the game is already officially playable on PS5 or Xbox should be treated carefully.
Here is the situation in simple terms:
| Platform | Current Status |
|---|---|
| Windows PC | Available |
| Steam | Available |
| PS5 | Not Released |
| Xbox Series X/S | Not Released |
| Nintendo Switch | No Confirmed Version |
| Xbox Game Pass | No Confirmed Deal |
| PlayStation Plus | No Confirmed Deal |
And honestly, I’m not surprised.
BOMBANANA! feels like a game that could eventually make the jump to consoles, but I would rather see Lefto Studio spend time getting the PC launch stable than rush a console port simply because people are asking for one.
Why BOMBANANA! Feels Perfect for Consoles
This is where things get interesting.
The actual gameplay doesn’t scream “PC-only.” Quite the opposite.
BOMBANANA! is built around communication, teamwork, quick reactions, and simple interactions. You don’t need a mouse and keyboard to understand the basic appeal. A controller is arguably the more natural device for a party game like this.
The concept revolves around three players working together as a bomb-disposal team. Each monkey has a completely different limitation.
The Blind Monkey
The Blind Monkey is the one who physically interacts with the bomb.
The catch?
They can’t actually see it.
This player has to rely on instructions from the others while manipulating wires, modules, switches, and other bomb components. Imagine trying to unplug the correct wire while three people are shouting completely different instructions at you.
It’s wonderfully stressful.
The Mute Monkey
The Mute Monkey has the bomb manual and therefore possesses some of the most important information in the entire team.
There is just one problem.
They can’t speak.
Instead, they have to communicate through gestures and movement. This is probably one of my favorite ideas in the entire game because it turns basic communication into a ridiculous game of charades.
You can know exactly what needs to happen and still fail spectacularly because your teammate thinks your frantic arm movement means “cut the blue wire.”
The Deaf Monkey
The third player can see the bomb and communicate verbally with the Blind Monkey.
However, they can’t hear what anyone else is saying.
This creates the perfect communication disaster.
One person knows the solution. Another knows what the bomb looks like. The third is the only one who can physically interact with it.
Put all three together and you’ve got BOMBANANA!.
My Biggest Reason to Believe a Console Port Makes Sense
If I had to bet on one reason BOMBANANA! eventually appears on PS5 and Xbox, it wouldn’t be graphics.
It would be the game’s social nature.
This is the kind of title that can become a fantastic living-room experience. Console players already have access to microphones, controllers, party chat, and large-screen multiplayer setups.
The game also doesn’t appear to depend on the kind of high-end hardware requirements that would make a console conversion especially intimidating.
That doesn’t mean porting it is easy.
Multiplayer games have their own headaches. Voice communication, matchmaking, platform certification, account systems, cross-play, privacy requirements, and network infrastructure all have to work properly.
And BOMBANANA! has an unusually important relationship with voice communication. It isn’t just background functionality. Communication is basically the game.
That makes a console port more complicated than simply moving the PC build to another machine.
Why the PC Launch Comes First
From a developer’s perspective, launching on PC first makes a lot of sense.
Steam provides an enormous audience, relatively accessible development tools, community feedback, and a much faster route from development to release.
For a smaller studio such as Lefto Studio, that matters.
The September 2 launch gives the developers an opportunity to discover what players actually break, what multiplayer problems appear at scale, and which mechanics need balancing.
And judging by the game’s premise, I’m expecting players to find some absolutely hilarious bugs.
But jokes aside, fixing those problems before attempting a console launch is important.
Nobody wants to buy BOMBANANA! on PS5 six months after launch only to discover that the voice system randomly stops working when three players join a lobby.
What About PS5?
A PS5 version would be a very natural fit for BOMBANANA!.
Sony’s console already has a huge audience for multiplayer and party games, and BOMBANANA!’s relatively straightforward control scheme shouldn’t present a major controller-design problem.
The bigger question is whether Lefto Studio has actually committed resources to a PlayStation build.
At the moment, there is no confirmed PS5 release date that players can rely on.
So while I think a PlayStation version makes commercial sense, I wouldn’t call it confirmed.
That’s an important distinction.
Possible does not mean announced.
What About Xbox Series X/S?
The Xbox situation is basically the same.
There is currently no confirmed Xbox Series X/S version.
Still, I could see BOMBANANA! working extremely well in the Xbox ecosystem. It’s the kind of co-op game that can spread rapidly through friend groups, especially if matchmaking and cross-platform multiplayer eventually become part of the package.
Xbox players should also keep an eye on Game Pass, although there is currently no confirmed Game Pass deal.
And personally, I wouldn’t expect one immediately.
A breakout indie game often needs time to establish its sales potential before the publisher decides whether a subscription deal makes financial sense.
Will BOMBANANA! Be on Game Pass or PlayStation Plus?
This is another area where the internet tends to move faster than the facts.
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmation that BOMBANANA! is coming to Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus.
There is also no reliable reason to assume that a console version, if announced, will automatically launch on either service.
My guess?
If the game becomes a long-term multiplayer hit, subscription services could become interesting later. But I wouldn’t build your expectations around a day-one Game Pass or PlayStation Plus release.
For now, that is speculation rather than news.
Don’t Confuse BOMBANANA! With Other Games
This is surprisingly important.
The game’s name is unusual enough that similar-looking titles can easily create confusion in search results and digital stores.
For example, unrelated games using similar names may appear on Xbox, mobile stores, or third-party marketplaces.
That doesn’t make them BOMBANANA!.
If you’re looking for the actual monkey bomb-defusal game, check the developer and publisher information carefully. Lefto Studio and TARK are the names you should be looking for.
I’d also avoid buying a supposed “PS5 version” from some random website just because the listing has screenshots from BOMBANANA!.
If an official console release happens, there will be much clearer information surrounding it.
When Could BOMBANANA! Come to PS5 and Xbox?
This is the part where I want to separate my personal prediction from confirmed information.
There is no official console release date right now.
However, if the PC version performs as strongly as its pre-release numbers suggest, a console port would make plenty of sense.
The game’s huge demo audience and wishlist numbers demonstrate significant interest. If that enthusiasm turns into strong PC sales and a healthy multiplayer community, the business argument for bringing the game to consoles becomes much stronger.
A realistic window for an announcement could be late 2026 or sometime in 2027, but that’s an estimate rather than confirmed information.
I would not put a specific launch month on it until Lefto Studio or TARK actually says something.
And one detail from the original speculation deserves correcting: a “mid-2026” console release obviously doesn’t fit the game’s September 2026 PC launch. Any realistic console window has to be after the PC release, not before it.
My Prediction: BOMBANANA! Will Probably Come to Consoles
If you want my honest opinion as a gamer rather than a press release, I would be surprised if BOMBANANA! stayed PC-only forever.
The concept is too well suited to consoles.
It’s social. It’s accessible. It’s funny when things go wrong. Most importantly, it doesn’t require players to sit down and study complicated controls before they can have fun.
This is exactly the sort of game that friends can discover together.
Imagine four people sitting around a TV, one player trying to explain a bomb while another is waving their arms and the third is screaming because they accidentally grabbed the wrong wire.
That’s basically free entertainment.
Of course, the developers still need to prove that the PC launch can sustain a player base. They also need to solve the technical challenges surrounding console networking and voice communication.
But if BOMBANANA! maintains momentum after launch, I think PS5 and Xbox Series X/S ports are more a question of timing than possibility.
Final Verdict
For now, console players have to wait.
BOMBANANA! is officially a PC game at launch, available through Steam on Windows. There is no confirmed PS5 or Xbox Series X/S version yet, and there is no announced release date for either platform.
That doesn’t mean the door is closed.
Quite the opposite.
The game’s massive pre-launch interest, multiplayer-focused design, controller-friendly gameplay, and obvious living-room appeal make it one of those indie games that feels almost destined for a console port if the PC launch succeeds.
My advice is simple: don’t trust random console listings or fake release dates. Wait for Lefto Studio or TARK to announce the port officially.
As for me, I’ll be watching this one closely.
Because if BOMBANANA! eventually lands on PS5 and Xbox, I already know exactly what is going to happen: three friends will start a match, everyone will claim they understand the rules, and five minutes later the van will be on fire.
And honestly, that’s probably the entire point.
Current Verdict: PC Only — Console Versions Possible, But Unconfirmed.
