Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls Roster: All 20 Confirmed Characters and Teams
Marvel has appeared in plenty of fighting games over the years, but Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls feels different. After spending time following every reveal, watching gameplay showcases, and digging through everything shown during the beta, I honestly think Arc System Works has done something surprisingly smart. Instead of throwing together a random collection of superheroes, they’ve built teams that actually feel like complete fighting game archetypes.
You can immediately tell this wasn’t designed just for Marvel fans. It was built for people who enjoy learning matchups, experimenting with team combinations, and discovering ridiculous combo routes.
The launch version includes 20 playable characters, divided into five themed squads. Of course, you’re free to mix your favorite heroes and villains however you like, but every official team shares a distinct identity that influences how they approach a match.
If you’re wondering which characters fit your preferred playstyle, here’s my breakdown of the complete launch roster.
Marvel Tokon Launch Teams at a Glance
| Team | Main Strength | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Fighting Avengers | Balanced offense and defense | Beginners and all-round players |
| Unbreakable X-Men | Mobility and pressure | Technical players |
| Amazing Guardians | Gadgets and zoning | Creative strategists |
| Knights of Doom | High damage and aggression | Offensive specialists |
| Samurai Outriders | Mix-ups and unpredictable attacks | Advanced mind-game players |
Fighting Avengers
If someone asked me which team I’d recommend to a brand-new player, this would easily be my answer.
Nothing about the Avengers feels overly complicated, but that’s exactly what makes them dangerous. Every character has reliable tools that work in almost every matchup.
Captain America
Cap plays exactly how many fans hoped he would.
His shield controls neutral exceptionally well, giving him answers against projectiles while also creating safe pressure from mid-range. He isn’t flashy, but strong fundamentals usually win matches, and Captain America rewards solid decision-making more than risky gambles.
Iron Man
Iron Man looks incredibly fun.
His flight mechanics completely change how neutral works, letting him attack from angles most characters simply can’t reach. Between repulsor blasts, missiles, and aerial mobility, he constantly forces opponents to react instead of setting their own pace.
Black Panther (Shuri)
This version of Black Panther feels fast… really fast.
Wall movement, quick slashes, and kinetic energy mechanics encourage aggressive play without becoming completely reckless. Blocking enemy attacks actually strengthens some of her offensive options, which creates an interesting risk-versus-reward system.
Hulk
Every fighting game needs that one character capable of deleting half your health bar after one mistake.
That’s Hulk.
Heavy armor, devastating command grabs, and terrifying corner pressure make him the obvious powerhouse of the roster. Slow? Sure. But if he gets close, you’re probably going for a ride.
Unbreakable X-Men
This squad feels like it was designed for players who enjoy mastering difficult characters.
They’re technical, mobile, and incredibly rewarding once you understand their tools.
Wolverine
I’ve always loved rushdown characters, and Wolverine absolutely fits that mold.
His speed is ridiculous, his normals recover quickly, and his healing factor adds a subtle layer of survivability that rewards constant offense instead of passive defense.
Storm
Storm may become one of the strongest zoning characters after launch.
She dominates vertical space with lightning attacks while controlling movement using wind abilities. Add unlimited aerial presence, and suddenly your opponent has to think in three dimensions instead of two.
Magik
Magik might end up becoming my favorite character in the entire roster.
Teleport portals create endless creativity during combos, while her Soulsword offers serious pressure once she gets inside. She looks like the kind of fighter that players will still be discovering new setups for months after release.
Danger
Every competitive fighting game eventually develops one character that tournament players love while casual players avoid.
Danger feels like that character.
Hard-light drones, lasers, traps, shields, and complex setups give her incredible control over the battlefield, but she clearly requires patience and planning.
Amazing Guardians
The Guardians aren’t built around brute force.
Instead, they win through creativity, positioning, and constant disruption.
Star-Lord
Changing elemental ammunition during combat is a clever mechanic.
Fire, ice, aerial movement, and flexible spacing make Star-Lord much more technical than I originally expected.
Rocket Raccoon
Rocket immediately stands out because of his tiny hurtbox.
That alone changes many matchups.
Then you add mines, automated turrets, explosive gadgets, and stage traps, and suddenly every inch of the arena becomes dangerous.
Groot
Groot serves as the team’s defensive wall.
His enormous reach controls neutral exceptionally well, while wooden barriers help protect teammates during tag sequences. He isn’t flashy, but he looks incredibly reliable.
Gamora
Gamora feels smooth.
Her transitions between sword attacks and blaster shots create stylish combos without sacrificing efficiency. Wall jumps and evasive movement also give her strong escape options when pressure becomes overwhelming.
Knights of Doom
If you enjoy making your opponent uncomfortable, this is probably your team.
Every member specializes in applying relentless pressure.
Doctor Doom
Doctor Doom somehow manages to excel at both zoning and offense.
His plasma attacks dominate long range, but once he starts landing those iconic foot dives, matches can end frighteningly quickly.
Magneto
Magneto has always been terrifying in Marvel fighting games.
Thankfully, that tradition continues.
His aerial movement looks absurdly fast, while magnetic projectiles and environmental manipulation create constant guessing games for the defender.
Green Goblin
Honestly, Green Goblin surprised me the most.
The Goblin Glider gives him unique mobility, while delayed pumpkin bombs create some genuinely nasty mix-up opportunities. Players who enjoy setting traps before attacking will probably love him.
Carnage
Pure aggression.
Carnage stretches his symbiote into blades, spikes, and whips while constantly dragging himself toward opponents. Everything about him screams relentless offense.
Samurai Outriders
The final launch team feels wonderfully unpredictable.
Rather than overwhelming opponents with raw power, these fighters rely on deception, mobility, and technical mechanics.
Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)
The muscle car alone makes him memorable.
Chains give him surprising reach, while hellfire damage keeps draining health after successful attacks. I can already imagine some terrifying corner pressure once experienced players optimize his combos.
Blade
Blade’s Bloodthirst mechanic encourages nonstop aggression.
The longer you stay in control, the stronger he becomes. That’s a fantastic way to reward confident players without making him overpowered from the very beginning.
Deadpool
Deadpool wouldn’t be Deadpool without chaos.
Random teleport interactions sound hilarious, especially during high-level matches where even experienced players won’t always know exactly what happens next.
Sometimes unpredictability is its own weapon.
Loki
Loki might become the biggest knowledge check in the game.
Illusions, invisibility, clone swaps, and deceptive positioning mean you’ll constantly question whether you’re attacking the real character. Players who enjoy mind games should definitely keep an eye on him.
Confirmed Year One DLC
Arc System Works has already confirmed that the roster won’t stop growing.
The first DLC fighter is Phoenix Cyclops, arriving during Fall 2026.
Rather than focusing on Scott Summers’ traditional leadership role, this version embraces the destructive power of the Phoenix Force. Massive optic blasts, explosive fire attacks, and screen-dominating supers make him look dramatically different from previous Marvel fighting game appearances.
Three additional DLC fighters are already planned, eventually completing an entirely new team.

My Early Favorites
Based on everything shown so far, these are the characters I’m most excited to learn:
- Magik for her creative portal mechanics.
- Doctor Doom because he’s almost always fun in Marvel fighters.
- Deadpool simply because unpredictable matches are entertaining.
- Storm thanks to her incredible aerial control.
- Rocket Raccoon for his unique trap-heavy gameplay.
Of course, balance patches will probably change the competitive landscape after launch, but these stand out immediately.
Final Thoughts
The more gameplay I watch, the more confident I become that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls isn’t trying to imitate older Marvel crossover fighters. Instead, it feels like Arc System Works has blended its signature anime fighting game philosophy with Marvel’s massive cast in a way that actually makes sense.
Every team has a clear identity. Every fighter appears to bring something unique to the roster instead of overlapping with another character. That’s something modern fighting games don’t always get right.
Whether you’re looking for a beginner-friendly all-rounder like Captain America, a technical specialist like Magik, an oppressive zoning expert like Doctor Doom, or complete chaos with Deadpool, the launch roster offers plenty of variety before post-launch content even begins.
If Arc System Works can maintain good balance while expanding the roster over the next year, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has a real chance to become one of the standout competitive fighting games of 2026.
