EA Sports FC 27 is finally here, and if you’re planning to spend the next few months arguing about formations, rage-quitting after conceding in the 90th minute, and convincing yourself that this year your Ultimate Team will be different, there is one thing you should check first: can your PC actually handle it?

Released on September 25, 2026, EA Sports FC 27 is the fourth major entry under the EA Sports FC name. This year’s game arrives with another round of gameplay changes, visual upgrades, new social features, a revamped Manager Career experience, and plenty of Ultimate Team adjustments.

Kylian Mbappe takes the spotlight on the Standard Edition cover, while premium editions put him alongside Jude Bellingham. That alone tells you where EA is positioning FC 27: this isn’t being treated as a small annual roster update. EA wants this year’s release to feel like another step forward for the series.

And after looking at the PC requirements, storage demands, different editions, and the actual feature set, there is quite a bit to talk about.

EA Sports FC 27 PC System Requirements

Let’s start with the part that matters before you even think about Ultimate Team: your hardware.

FC 27 continues to use the Frostbite engine, and EA has pushed it further with more detailed stadium environments, crowds, weather effects, player presentation, pitch detail, and modern rendering features.

The good news is that the minimum requirements aren’t particularly terrifying by 2026 standards. The bad news? That 100GB storage requirement isn’t going anywhere.

Minimum PC Requirements

EA’s minimum specification targets roughly 720p at 60 FPS on Low settings.

Honestly, the minimum GPU requirement is pretty reasonable. A GTX 1050 Ti isn’t exactly a monster in 2026, but if you’re still running one, FC 27 isn’t automatically off the table.

The 8GB RAM requirement, however, is where I’d be slightly cautious. Eight gigabytes technically gets you through the door, but modern Windows installations and background applications can chew through that memory surprisingly quickly.

If your machine has only 8GB, I’d close unnecessary applications before launching the game. And yes, that includes the 47 Chrome tabs you’ve forgotten about.

Recommended PC Requirements

For the more comfortable experience, EA recommends hardware targeting 1080p, 60 FPS, High settings.

The GTX 1660 and RX 5600 XT are hardly cutting-edge GPUs anymore, which is actually encouraging. You don’t need a ridiculously expensive gaming PC just to get a respectable FC 27 experience.

That said, there’s a difference between meeting the recommended specification and running the game with every fancy visual option switched on.

Why Does EA Sports FC 27 Need 100GB?

This is probably the specification most likely to annoy PC players.

EA Sports FC 27 requires 100GB of available storage, with an SSD specifically listed for the recommended configuration.

For a football game, 100GB sounds ridiculous at first glance. You’re not downloading a continent-sized open world. You’re downloading football stadiums.

But FC 27 isn’t exactly a tiny package.

The game has to account for:

• High-resolution player and stadium assets
• Authentic kits and equipment
• Large crowd systems
• Pitch textures and degradation effects
• Commentary and localized audio
• Cinematic presentation assets
• Rapid asset streaming during matches
• Career Mode and Ultimate Team content

Localized commentary can also add additional files depending on your language configuration.

The SSD requirement makes more sense once you consider how much data the game is constantly pulling into memory. Mechanical HDDs are simply much slower at handling modern game asset streaming.

And this isn’t the kind of game where you want your hard drive fighting for its life while you’re taking a corner.

An SSD should help reduce loading times, asset streaming issues, transition stutters, and pop-in. A SATA SSD is perfectly usable, while an NVMe drive is the obvious choice if your motherboard supports it.

Which FC 27 Edition Should You Buy?

EA has gone fairly aggressive with the number of ways players can buy FC 27.

There are the traditional retail editions, the subscription route, and even a free limited version.

Standard Edition

The Standard Edition is the straightforward option.

It launches on September 25, 2026 and gives you the core FC 27 experience without the larger Ultimate Team bundle.

Pre-order incentives can include starter items, loan player choices, Career Mode bonuses, and cosmetic rewards.

If you mainly care about Career Mode, Kick-Off, Clubs, or simply playing football without turning Ultimate Team into a second job, this is the most relevant version to look at.

Ultimate Edition

The Ultimate Edition is aimed squarely at Ultimate Team players.

Its biggest selling point is up to seven days of early access, allowing players to start from September 18.

It also includes bonuses such as a 93+ OVR ICON player pick for FC 26, a Season 1 Premium Pass, and up to 6,000 FC Points distributed over time.

This is the edition where EA really starts pushing the live-service side of FC 27.

Ultimate Plus Edition

Then there is the more extravagant Ultimate Plus Edition.

This was available as an early-bird option from July 23 through August 31, 2026.

The package included up to 10,000 FC Points, delivered across five drops, plus Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5.

There is an important PC detail here: the edition was restricted to Steam and the EA App, rather than being available through Epic Games Store.

For players heavily invested in Ultimate Team, the additional content is significant. For everyone else, the price difference becomes much harder to justify.

EA Play Pro: Another Way to Play FC 27

PC players also have another option through EA Play Pro on the EA App.

The subscription provides access to the complete Ultimate Edition experience from the earliest access period, along with recurring rewards such as monthly FC Points and additional Career Mode bonuses.

This is worth considering if you’re the sort of player who jumps between EA releases rather than living inside FC 27 all year.

If you’re only buying FC 27 for Career Mode and expect to play hundreds of hours, the calculation becomes different. But for someone who wants to sample the wider EA catalogue, the subscription route is at least worth comparing with the upfront purchase.

FC 27 Lite Is Here for Casual Players

One of the more interesting additions is EA Sports FC 27 Lite, a free limited version arriving around launch.

It provides access to basic local Kick-Off content and selected feature previews, with the option to upgrade to the complete game.

I actually like the idea.

Not everyone needs Ultimate Team, every Career Mode feature, or a giant library of online modes. Giving curious players a free way to kick the ball around before spending full-price money makes sense.

The Grounds Changes the Feel of FC 27

The biggest gameplay-adjacent feature this year is The Grounds.

Think of it as a social football hub where smaller street-style matches meet the presentation and atmosphere of the main game.

It takes the idea of informal football and gives it a more connected environment. Players can customize spaces, jump into smaller matches, practice skills, and mess around with more relaxed football mechanics.

After years of annual football games becoming increasingly structured around menus and competitive modes, having a place that feels more like a football playground is a welcome change.

It isn’t necessarily the reason I’d buy FC 27 by itself, but it gives the game a little more personality.

Manager Career Finally Gets Some Serious Attention

Career Mode players have plenty to look forward to.

EA has rebuilt parts of the transfer system around TransferRoom’s Expected Transfer Value, creating a more detailed approach to negotiations.

Club AI is also designed to behave more intelligently, with clubs considering multi-stage negotiations, loan clauses, squad requirements, and broader roster logic.

Then there’s Dynamic Overall Ratings.

Player ratings can move during the season based on things such as form, morale, fitness, and injuries.

That sounds like a relatively small feature on paper, but it can have a surprisingly big effect on the feeling of a long Career Mode save. Football is supposed to be fluid. Players don’t perform at exactly the same level from August to May, and FC 27 is trying to reflect that.

For me, these are the kinds of changes that matter more in Career Mode than another flashy presentation trailer.

Ultimate Team Gets the FUT Gallery

Ultimate Team is also changing with the introduction of the FUT Gallery.

The new dashboard focuses more heavily on collecting and displaying Player Items, with players able to increase their Gallery Level and unlock cosmetic rewards.

FC 27 also introduces Holographic Player Items, new card designs, and a streamlined score-based system for Squad Building Challenges.

The new Hall of FUT tier is another nostalgic touch, bringing community legends and historically popular players into the spotlight.

Whether you love or hate Ultimate Team, EA clearly wants FC 27 to make collecting cards feel like a larger part of the overall progression loop.

How Does FC 27 Perform on PC?

This is where the PC version gets particularly interesting.

EA has added more graphics controls, including a VRAM indicator directly inside the settings menu, native Steam friends integration, and enhanced Ultra-quality options.

There are also improvements to ray-traced ambient occlusion and pitch degradation.

On a system around the recommended GTX 1660/Ryzen 7 2700X level, the target is a stable 60 FPS at 1080p, assuming you make sensible adjustments to demanding settings such as crowd density.

Modern RTX 30- and RTX 40-series hardware has considerably more headroom.

With a stronger GPU, FC 27 can push beyond 144 FPS, especially when you’re willing to tune the more expensive visual options rather than blindly selecting Ultra and hoping for the best.

HDR10 support also gives the presentation a nice boost on compatible displays.

And that’s important because football games live or die on presentation. Stadium lighting, grass, player faces, crowd animation, weather and broadcast-style camera work are all part of what makes a match feel convincing.

My Take on EA Sports FC 27 on PC

After stripping away the Ultimate Team marketing and looking at FC 27 as a complete PC package, there’s a lot here.

The 100GB installation size is annoying. I’m not going to pretend otherwise. If your SSD is already packed with other games, FC 27 may force you into the classic ritual of deleting three games you swear you’ll play again someday.

But the storage isn’t completely arbitrary. The amount of visual, audio, stadium, player, crowd, and streaming data involved is substantial.

The hardware requirements are actually fairly approachable. A GTX 1660-class PC is nowhere near a modern high-end gaming rig, yet EA is targeting 1080p/60 FPS on High with the recommended configuration.

The bigger story is what happens when you move into newer hardware. That’s where the PC version starts to stretch its legs, with high-refresh-rate gaming, HDR, additional rendering features, and much more graphical headroom.

FC 27 feels like an annual football game that is trying to evolve rather than simply reshuffle the cards.

The Grounds gives the game a new social identity. Manager Career gets deeper transfer logic and more dynamic player development. Ultimate Team expands its collecting side with FUT Gallery and new item tiers. And the PC version finally gives enthusiasts more meaningful control over performance and visual quality.

No, it isn’t going to convince everyone who has grown tired of yearly football releases. The core formula is still unmistakably EA Sports FC.

But if you’re already invested in the series, have a decent gaming PC, and want the latest gameplay systems, Career Mode changes, Ultimate Team features, and presentation upgrades, EA Sports FC 27 is a substantial package for the 2026 football season.

Just make sure you’ve got that SSD space ready.

Because 100GB is the first opponent you’re going to face.
