Windrose Stargazer Tower Puzzle Solution: Fate of the Prophets Quest Guide
There are a lot of moments in Windrose where the game pretends to be simple and then suddenly humbles you. For me, the Stargazer Towers in the Cursed Swamps were exactly that kind of moment.
At first, I genuinely thought the puzzle was bugged.
I spent nearly an hour running around ruined temples, checking random journals, fighting swamp mobs, and even sailing to nearby islands because I was convinced the answer had to be hidden somewhere else. Turns out the solution was literally carved above the door the entire time. Classic Windrose.
But honestly, that’s part of why this questline became one of my favorite side adventures in the game. It combines exploration, environmental storytelling, brutal combat, and one of the best material rewards currently available in the late-game crafting loop.
If you are trying to solve the Stargazer Tower puzzle, unlock the Fate of the Prophets quest, or farm a huge amount of Tumbaga Ingots, this guide covers everything without wasting your time.
Why The Stargazer Towers Matter
The Cursed Swamps biome already feels different from the rest of Windrose. Visibility is terrible, enemies hit harder than expected, and almost every island feels like it’s hiding something valuable.
The Stargazer Towers are easily the most important side activity in the region.
These giant Mayan-inspired observatories are tied to:
- A hidden multi-stage questline
- Large amounts of Tumbaga Ingots
- Late-game crafting progression
- A major swamp boss encounter
- Rare lore connected to the ancient civilization
The rewards alone make this quest worth doing early.
Here’s the thing most players don’t realize immediately: Windrose uses procedural generation, so tower locations change between worlds. You cannot copy somebody else’s coordinates from Reddit and expect them to work.
Instead, you need to search the swamp manually.
What To Look For
| Visual Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Pyramid Shape | Large stepped stone ziggurat |
| Swamp Islands | Usually isolated on muddy islands |
| Stone Staircase | Leads downward into a locked chamber |
| Rotating Stone Dials | One on each side of the entrance |
There are three Stargazer Towers total hidden throughout the Cursed Swamps.

The Stargazer Tower Puzzle Solution
This puzzle is much easier than people make it sound online.
The problem is visibility.
The swamp fog, dark lighting, and greenish atmosphere make players miss the clue completely. I did too.
How To Open The Tower Door
When you walk down toward the locked entrance, you’ll notice two rotating stone plates beside the door.
Most people assume they need to discover some external symbol combination.
You don’t.
The correct symbols are already displayed directly above the dials.
Quick Puzzle Steps
- Equip a torch or another bright light source
- Stand directly in front of the sealed door
- Look upward above the LEFT dial
- Match the rotating symbol to the carving above it
- Repeat the process for the RIGHT dial
- Once both symbols match, the door opens automatically
That’s it.
No hidden code. No random combinations. No treasure maps.
Honestly, I kind of love how simple the actual mechanic is after the game spends so much time making you overthink it.
Where To Find Silver & Gold Ingots in Windrose: Best Infinite Farming Locations (2026 Guide)
Don’t Miss These Important Loot Rewards
Inside every Stargazer Tower is an Ancient Chest and an Observatory Stele.
The chest matters because it gives guaranteed Tumbaga Ingots, which are one of the rarest crafting resources in Windrose right now.
Loot Per Tower
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Tumbaga Ingots | 3x |
| XP | Large |
| Crafting Materials | Randomized |
| Currency | Variable |
Across all three towers, that becomes a very serious amount of progression material.
IMPORTANT: Empty Your Inventory First
This is a mistake I made during my second tower.
If your bags are full and items remain inside the chest, the Point of Interest can sometimes fail to register as completed.
Before opening any tower chest:
- Clear inventory space
- Loot everything
- Double-check the chest is empty
It sounds minor, but it saves a lot of frustration later.
Why You Might Not Be Able To Read The Stele
This confused a massive number of players during launch week.
You can find a tower early and still be unable to interact with the glowing monolith properly.
That is NOT a bug.
The Stargazer questline is partially locked behind the main story progression.
At a certain point in the campaign, your character learns how to translate the ancient language used throughout the swamp ruins. Only after that story milestone can you fully activate the Observatory Steles.
So if the text appears unreadable:
- Continue the main storyline
- Progress toward the third major boss
- Return later
Once the language unlock happens, the questline works normally.
Fate Of The Prophets Quest Walkthrough
The lore here is surprisingly good.
The towers belonged to three ancient stargazers who predicted disaster for a tyrannical ruler named Chick-Chan. Instead of listening, he sealed the prophets alive inside their observatories.
Naturally, the prophecy came true anyway.
Classic cursed ruler behavior.
The quest breaks into two major phases.
Phase One — Clear All Three Observatories
After reading the first translated stele, your quest log updates.
Now you need to locate the remaining towers across the swamp.
Things To Expect
The further you go, the nastier the enemies become.
You’ll encounter:
- Level 15 Plague enemies
- Plague Throwers
- Heavy melee brutes
- Swarm ambushes near staircases
The towers themselves use the exact same puzzle mechanic every time.
Just remember: Look above the dials.
That single detail solves the entire puzzle chain.
The Chick-Chan Boss Fight
After completing all observatories, the quest sends you toward the center of the swamp biome.
This is where things get ugly.
Chick-Chan is one of those bosses that punishes greedy melee players hard. His swings are massive, his posture meter is deceptive, and he can delete stamina bars incredibly fast.
The first time I fought him, I treated the battle like a normal brute enemy and got flattened in under two minutes.
Best Strategy Against Chick-Chan
The fight becomes dramatically easier once you understand the weak-point mechanic.
Target The Glowing Boils
His body is covered in infected glowing growths.
Shoot them.
Seriously.
Using a Pistol or Musket to burst these weak spots deals enormous posture damage.
Once his posture breaks:
- Chick-Chan collapses temporarily
- You get a long damage window
- Heavy melee weapons become devastating
This is where Greatswords and Halberds shine.
Recommended Loadout
| Gear Type | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Main Weapon | Greatsword or Halberd |
| Secondary | Pistol or Musket |
| Armor Focus | Stamina Efficiency |
| Consumables | Healing Potions + Food Buffs |
Biggest Mistake Players Make
Using all stamina offensively.
Never fully drain your stamina bar during this fight.
Chick-Chan has delayed slam attacks that punish panic rolling. If you empty stamina at the wrong moment, you’re basically dead.
Keep reserve stamina ready at all times.
Total Quest Rewards
This questline is honestly one of the best resource investments in Windrose right now.
Full Reward Breakdown
| Source | Rewards |
|---|---|
| Tower 1 | 3x Tumbaga Ingots |
| Tower 2 | 3x Tumbaga Ingots |
| Tower 3 | 3x Tumbaga Ingots |
| Quest Completion | 10x Tumbaga Ingots |
| Additional Rewards | XP, Materials, Currency |
Final Total: 19 Tumbaga Ingots
That is massive value.
Especially because Tumbaga is used for:
- Legendary armor crafting
- Endgame weapon upgrades
- Settlement workshop progression
- High-tier build optimization
And thanks to Windrose’s recycling system, dismantling crafted gear refunds part of the invested material anyway.
So these ingots remain useful permanently.
Final Thoughts
The Stargazer Towers ended up being one of my favorite discoveries in Windrose because they perfectly represent the game’s design philosophy.
The puzzle itself is simple.
The atmosphere makes it feel complicated.
You spend hours second-guessing yourself, fighting through swamp horrors, and hunting for imaginary clues, only to realize the answer was sitting directly above the doorway the whole time.
And honestly? That reveal feels incredibly satisfying.
If you are entering the Cursed Swamps soon, prepare properly before tackling this questline:
- Bring ranged weapons
- Carry extra healing
- Keep inventory space open
- Progress the main story first
- And never forget your torch
Because once you crack the Stargazer puzzles and bring down Chick-Chan, the reward payout completely changes your late-game progression path.
